About Logan County Memorial Hospital
History:Guthrie, Oklahoma is the Logan County Seat. When the Oklahoma Territory was originally established in the 1890's, Guthrie served as the territory capital. It was the first state capital for Oklahoma from November 16, 1907 to June 11, 1910 when an election “stole” the capital and moved it to Oklahoma City.
The Logan County Hospital was originally envisioned to become a state-of-the-art facility when its foundation was first poured in 1925. It's construction was funded by the Methodist Episcopal Conference. The Great Depression forced the project to remain incomplete until 1946 when the building was purchased by the Order of the Sisters of Saint Benedict. The nuns ran the hospital between 1946 and 1964.
In 1964, the Sisters of Saint Benedict sold the facility to the Sisters of Saint Francis of Maryville, Missouri. The hospital was renamed Alvero Heights Hospital and then renamed again ten years later to Logan County Hospital.
In 1977, a new facility was built, ultimately resulting in the break-down of Logan County Memorial Hospital.
Recently, the building was purchased and plans were made to make the building into 1 and 2 bedroom apartments, but the project has never been started. So, today it is an old 55,000 square foot, 5 story abandoned structure that is host to multiple break-ins vandalism and variety of other unfortunate events.
The Chief of Police in Guthrie was quoted as reminding visitors to the Old Logan County Hospital that they can go to jail for trespassing on this property, so BEWARE!
Paranormal Reports:
Apparitions have been reported in a third floor window. Feelings of terror and feelings of uneasiness have been reported. Also, lights blinking in the abandoned building have also been reported.
